In the Vineyard: Climate & Growing Grapes

The Idea
A vineyard begins with a choice of place. Once planted, however, the vine must live within the conditions around it: the warmth of the season, the reach of the sun, the availability of water and the character of the soil. These quiet forces shape the grapes long before the winemaker begins their work. Understanding them is one of the first steps in understanding why wines taste different around the world.
