Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 September 2026

OINOS respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information responsibly and transparently.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used and the choices and rights available to you when using OINOS.

OINOS is operated by EidosCollective LLC, trading as OINOS by EIDOS.

1Information We Collect

Depending on how you use OINOS, we may collect:

Account information
Such as your name, email address and authentication information required to create and maintain your account.
Learning information
Such as completed lessons, bookmarks, flashcard activity, spaced-repetition progress, quiz and mock-exam results and other learning preferences or activity.
Technical information
Such as device type, browser information, IP address, operating system, access times and technical logs necessary to operate and secure the platform.
Communications
Information you provide when contacting OINOS for support, partnerships or other enquiries.
Payment information
Payments are processed by our payment provider on its own secure page; card numbers never reach OINOS. We keep the record of the purchase itself: what was bought, the amount and currency, the billing country you selected, the identifier the payment provider assigns to you, and the confirmations you gave at checkout, including your acceptance of these documents and your request for immediate access.

2How We Use Your Information

We may use personal information to provide and maintain your account, save learning progress, personalise your educational experience, operate spaced-repetition and other learning features, provide support, improve the platform, maintain security and comply with legal obligations.

Where required by applicable law, processing will be based on an appropriate legal basis, including performance of a contract, legitimate interests, consent or compliance with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising, profiling or marketing by anyone else.

3Learning Data

OINOS uses information about your activity to make the learning experience more useful.

For example, progress data may allow OINOS to remember completed lessons, identify flashcards due for review, maintain bookmarks and display assessment results.

This information is intended to support your learning experience and platform functionality.

4Cookies and Analytics

OINOS uses only the cookies that are necessary to operate the platform: keeping you signed in, keeping your session secure and remembering a small number of interface preferences on your own device.

We do not use analytics, advertising or other tracking technologies, and no third-party tracker runs on OINOS. This is why you are not asked to accept cookies: there is nothing to consent to beyond what the platform needs to work.

Should that ever change, this section will be updated and, where required, consent will be requested before any non-essential technology is used.

5Service Providers

We keep the number of outside providers deliberately small: hosting, card payments and the automated marking of written answers. Everything else, including email, we run ourselves. The providers we use today are:

Hosting
Your account details and learning history are stored on servers in the European Union (Prague, Czech Republic), operated for us by a hosting provider.
Payments
Stripe processes card payments on its own pages and returns to us only the outcome of the payment. Card details are never received or stored by OINOS.
Email
Transactional email — confirming your address, resetting a password, confirming a purchase — is sent from our own mail server. Your address and the content of those messages are not handed to an outside email provider.
AI marking of written answers
Where you submit a written mock-exam answer, the text of the answer, the question and the marking criteria are sent to Anthropic for automated marking. The request carries no name, email address or account identifier: the marking service is not told whose answer it is and cannot connect it to you. Please avoid including personal details in the text of an answer.

These providers may process information only where necessary to provide their service to us, and under contractual and security safeguards.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising, profiling or marketing by anyone else.

6International Data Transfers

Your account and learning data are stored on a server in the European Union.

Email is sent from our own server; it is not routed through an outside provider. Two of our providers do operate internationally. Stripe processes payment data in accordance with its own privacy terms and safeguards. The marking of written answers is performed by Anthropic; the material sent for marking carries no identifying information, so it is not connected to you at the receiving end.

Where personal data does leave the European Economic Area, we rely on the safeguards recognised under applicable data-protection law, including standard contractual clauses put in place by the provider concerned.

7Data Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. In practice that means:

Account and learning history
Kept while you use OINOS, so that your progress, flashcard intervals and notes are there when you return. If an account stays unused for 24 months, we may delete it together with its learning history, after writing to the address on the account beforehand.
Records of purchases
Kept for up to 7 years from the purchase, because accounting and tax rules require records of transactions to be retained. These records are kept even if the account itself is deleted, and are limited to what those rules require.
Technical and security logs
Kept for up to 12 months, then deleted or aggregated so that they no longer identify anyone.
Emails we send you
Copies of transactional messages — address confirmations, password resets, purchase confirmations — are kept for up to 90 days and then deleted.

When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your account and learning history and retain only what the rules above require us to keep.

8Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

No online system can, however, guarantee absolute security.

9Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including the right to:

  • Access personal information held about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information
  • Request restriction of certain processing
  • Object to certain processing
  • Receive or export certain information in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with an appropriate data-protection authority

OINOS will provide account-management and deletion mechanisms where technically appropriate and will also accept privacy requests through support@eidoscollective.com.

10Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your OINOS account and associated personal information.

Certain information may need to be retained where required by law, for legitimate security purposes or to establish or defend legal claims.

11Age and Alcohol-Related Content

OINOS is an educational platform concerning wine and alcoholic beverages.

OINOS is intended for adults aged 21 or over. You confirm that you meet this age requirement when you create an account, and you should only use OINOS if you are also legally permitted to access alcohol-related educational content under the laws applicable to you.

OINOS is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21. If we learn that an account belongs to someone below that age, we will close it and delete the associated information.

12Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as OINOS develops, including when new functionality, service providers, analytics or payment systems are introduced.

The latest version will always be available on this page, together with its revision date.
