The Idea

Sangiovese and Montepulciano dominate the vineyards of Central Italy. They are often confused by students because both produce important Italian red wines and both are associated with famous appellations. Yet their personalities are very different. Sangiovese is defined by acidity, structure and savoury complexity. Montepulciano is defined by colour, fruit and generosity.
