Zinfandel & Primitivo: One Grape, Two Identities

The Idea
Some grape varieties are defined by elegance. Others are defined by power. Zinfandel and Primitivo belong firmly in the second group. Known for producing rich, deeply flavoured wines with high alcohol and generous fruit character, this grape thrives in warm climates where it can ripen fully. Although known by different names in California and Southern Italy, Zinfandel and Primitivo are genetically identical. The wines may differ in style, but the grape is the same.
