Canada
Canada's vineyards lie at the northern limits of commercial viticulture, where lakes, mountains and long summer days make grape growing possible. These moderating influences preserve freshness while allowing grapes to ripen in an otherwise challenging climate.
Climate & Viticulture
- Vineyards are planted between 44°N and 50°N. Large lakes moderate temperatures, reducing winter damage and delaying spring budburst. Mountain rain shadows create warm, dry valleys in western Canada. Icewine is Canada's signature style, produced from grapes naturally frozen on the vine.
